Were there any times when the staff at Grace Brothers acted out of character that impressed you? For example, in the episode "Forward, Mr. Grainger", Mr. Grainger is transformed into a "nasty old bastard", to quote Mrs. Slocombe. This impressed me because while we're so used to Arthur Brough playing Mr. Grainger, this showed he could act as other characters too.

In "Memories Are Made Of This"... I HATED Mrs. Slocombe taking on the little girl personality. It was just stupid !

It was only a brief bit of character work, but in "Roots", I thought Mr. Rumbold did a good job playing his brother.

In Roots, I also thought it was great to see "Mr. Rumbold" with hair
 And I also disliked Mrs. Slocombe's personality shift in Memories. Mind you, she played it very well, but it was so unlike her. To be honest, I didn't really like it when she did the heavy-on-Mr. Humphries' routines in The Apartment, Lost and Found and Erotic Dreams. I've kind of always had them in my mind as Humphries and Slocombe having a close "best girlfriends" relationship rather than being lovers. Are You Being Served...and More Forums!
